Take part in our research project
At Feeding Gloucestershire, our mission is built on understanding and improving access to nutritious food across our county. To do that effectively, we need robust, up-to-date local data.
We are excited to invite food banks, pantries, and affordable food projects from across Gloucestershire to participate in a countywide research project, delivered in collaboration with Gloucestershire County Council.
Why is this research needed?
The goal of our project is to build an accurate, up-to-date picture of food insecurity across the county. By exploring the real, lived experiences of people accessing community food support, we aim to:
- Identify critical gaps and new opportunities for support.
- Strengthen the data evidence available to community food organisations.
- Inform and develop affordable food models to pilot here in Gloucestershire.
What does taking part look like?
We know organisations are incredibly busy, so we have designed this research to fit alongside existing services as smoothly as possible, with our team providing support throughout. We are looking for a small cohort of organisations to participate in two ways:
- An operational interview: A 1-hour in-person interview or questionnaire at your venue to understand how your foodbank or pantry operates.
- Client surveys: Nominating 1–3 volunteers or staff members to attend a 2-hour training session in July, who will then help clients complete a digital 15–20 minute survey during August and September.
What your organisation gets back
Participation is entirely voluntary, and we want to ensure your organisation’s time and efforts are fully respected and compensated. Partnering projects will receive:
- Financial Compensation: Funding to cover the time your organisation spends supporting data collection.
- Thank-You Incentives for Members: Dedicated funding to distribute thank-you incentives to clients who complete the survey (such as a free pantry shop or supermarket vouchers).
- A Tailored Insights Report: A personalised summary of the survey responses from your service, which can support future funding applications, reporting, and strategic service development.
- Skills Training: Free training for volunteers in high-value active listening and digital data collection skills.
Safety and privacy first
We take data protection seriously, and all collected insights will be stored securely and anonymised during the analysis and reporting stages. No individual clients will be identifiable.
