How Healthy Start works
Once your application is approved, you will receive a Healthy Start pre-paid card. Payments are added automatically to the card every four weeks. You’ll receive:
£4.65 per week during pregnancy from 10 weeks
£9.30 per week for each child under one year old
£4.65 per week for each child between one and four years old.
Payments continue until your child turns four or if your benefit status changes.

What does this look like in real life?
A family with two children (aged 6 months and 3 years) could get £13.95 per week to spend on milk, fruit and vegetables, plus free children’s vitamins.
